FOR THE

NORTH CAROLINA COURTS HISTORICAL DATABASE

INTRODUCTION: Welcome to the N.C. Courts Historical Database, which include the N.C. Supreme Court, N.C Court of Appeals, N.C. Superior Court, and the N.C. District Court. The data covers fiscal years 1983 through 2001. We hope that you will find this data useful during your research. If there are any questions or recommendations on how this service can be improved, please feel free to contact the Webmaster with your comments. Thank you.

NOTES:

1. Two types of graphs are rendered (area and bar) depending on how the fiscal years are selected. To get the area graph, chose all years or a range of consecutive years—the minimum being two consecutive. To get the bar chart, choose no more than five years with at least one of them being non-consecutive. The minimum number of years selectable is two non-consecutive.

2. If an Item ID is not entered when the Form page is submitted, you will be taken to the Item ID list page.

3. If an Item ID is entered, which does not exist for a particular Court, an error message will be generated.

4. If a minimum of two fiscal years is not entered, an error message will be generated.

5. If All Years under Fiscal Years is selected along with another fiscal year(s), an error message will be generated.

6. If more than five non-consecutive fiscal years are selected, an error message will be generated.
